Portal Encantado :: new book

i'm so excited to show you this new adventure of mine. it's a concertina book entitled Portal Encantado (Enchanted Portal) exploring the playful characters of Brazilian folklore :) the format is A5 - 16 panels (8 on each side) and this is volume one of, hopefully a subsequent series, as the subject is fascinating and there are many other characters to have fun with.
i've had a tiny edition of 50 beautifully printed books and they'll go out in the world from tomorrow at £14 (free shipping). a true collectable and if you'd like to secure your copy, i've reserved a few for the first owners here
+ a shout out to ace publishers out there. get in touch if you're interested, so that we could maybe bring out a second edition and it would also enable me to carry on with the whole series.

Abu Dhabi art fair illustrations

i created this set of illustrations for 2011 Abu Dhabi art fair family guide. the fair started on wednesday. the guide comes in two versions both english and arabic and the overall format is A2 size folded up into an A5 size. can't wait to see it in print. the guys from Beam kindly sent me an overview of the final layout. i think it looks good and i really enjoyed working on them as i'd never drawn boys in kanduras or done any arabic lettering before:) thanks Beam and YCN for having me on board in this project.

a fun job in Blackpool

yesterday i travelled to Blackpool along with twelve ace illustrators on a fun job with YCN.
we worked as visualizers for the Merlin Entertainments innovation international conference at the Hilton hotel. the groups had to come up with their own unique idea for a new attraction and we were there to help them with making models and illustrating their concepts. great fun indeed! i only managed to take those quick snapshots as the hands were too busy drawing and making :) we ended up at the pub in foggy Blackpool, had a few pints and everyone was tired but happy-tired so it was all good!

monday funday

when life gets a bit chaotic, one needs a breather right? right. and that's just what i did yesterday, in the best company of my wonderful pal Simone Lia. we popped into nobrow to see Ben's beautiful masks show and to enjoy all the other bits of goodness there. then we went for a good catch up session over nice coffee. monday funday it was indeed :)
now i must draw / think / draw / rethink / draw again...
deadline is looming but the head is calm and the heart is happy. see you later friends!
