Pick Me Up 2011

the sun was shining in London today and i had an ace afternoon at Pick Me Up with my good friend Simon. lots of eye candy to be enjoyed and it was nice to meet Jay, Sam from Nobrow press and Jez in person :)
i'll let the photos do the talk but if you are in London do check it out. awesome stuff... most of the work exhibited is indeed very inspiring and i even got myself a new husband (pics 9 & 17) created by the super talented Jay Cover from Nous Vous collective. i named him Diego, he looks quite happy in his new home :) and no, husband no1 is not jealous (yet)...

+ notice that little old lady (pic 11) buying Nobrow books... how ace is that? for a split second i saw myself in the future. * sigh... wonderful

some work in progress + my new tidy desktop

i'm still playing with this piece, a lot of monkey fun involved... my new tidy desktop was found via Creative Review and i set it up as soon as i could. life is so much nicer and organized now :)

i can't say enough how grateful and lucky i am for being part of such ace artist's community. nowadays, not a single week goes by that i don't receive something beautiful from one of you in the post . thank you so much!
1. Simone Lia, my former tutor back in uni days and one of the illustrators i respect and admire the most sent me an amazing gift with all those beauties you can see in the photos. * sigh... her book Fluffy is just perfect! she has a blog too :)
2. the lovely Julia Pott sent me a gorgeous original drawing (second time round) and postcard with this brilliant tote bag i purchased from her shop.
3. the ever so talented Lisa Congdon also mailed me gifts from across the pond. a package full of wonderful prints, badges, cards... ahhh her work never ceases to inspire me on a daily basis.
i'm not sure i've ever mentioned it here but Lisa's work and bio were my striking lightning of inspiration when, a few years ago, i made the decision to go back to university to do my design degree.

thanks again guys, i love everything. you are all A M A Z I N G

postcards for YCN

the other week i was asked to produce a couple of promotional postcards for YCN and here they are :)
how are you all? i've not had an easy few weeks unfortunately. as they say 'bad things come in threes' so having had all three in a row, i am now picking up the pieces, putting myself back together and hoping for 'the good ones only' for a very long while to come.
got to stay positive huh?!

Mr. Postman brought me some nice surprises in the post today and i cannot thank you guys enough for being so kind and ace.
1. a parcel from Gemma and Anthony packed with goodies including my favourite zine by Mr Zinonos. i tried to get hold of a copy a while back and they had sold out but Anthony found one in his archive and kindly sent me as an unexpected gift! wonderful.
2. a surprise 'get well' package gift from Anke, including some awesome audiobooks for me to listen to while i work. how thoughtful and great of her.
3. new friends from Karolin ... Mr. Wolf and Miss Rabbit are now happily jumping up and down my pen shelf. yay
how lucky am i?! thanks again lovely friends, you have all made my day a much happier and inspiring one! lots of love to you all x
