hello!

hello, hello! sorry about the lack of posts last week. it's been a really busy couple of months around here! got a deadline tomorrow so this is going to be a quick one too but with lots of eye candy.
yesterday i went to Wimbledon Open Studios and it was really nice to meet the super talented Hannah Hopkin (hers was my favorite studio out of the lot) wonderful work, don't you think?!
+++ huge amounts of joy when Mr Postman brought me Lesley's Firebird... beautiful! and i feel the luckiest person in the world to have number 1 of an edition of only 16 as an early xmas present from Lesley. thank youuuu :) you can also get one from here, if you're quick...
++ Motorhead concert last week. totally ace as usual, good old Lemmy was on fire!
+ i'm considering getting a bigger desk as it also doubles up as my kitty's favorite meditation spot... good times

seven randoms

cleaning up and organizing my iPhoto is something i put off until... until really. but since i know it's the worst culprit when it comes to taking up lots of space on my hard drive, now and again it's a job that i can't get away from. in the end it's fun as you get to find some ace moments lost in the backlog of stuff :) here's seven faves i've jut picked:
1. Gilbert & George ::: from the exhibition i went to at Tate Modern i think... - circa 2007
2. from a stroll in Cologne ::: Germany. couldn't believe the red shoes...
3. Ben Folds at Hammersmith Apollo a few years back. just booked tickets to see him there again in february :)
4. saying goodbye to my old studio in Southampton ::: seriously considering going back next year or so...
5. bowling and rubbish at it...
6. the day i met Lemmy. am seeing Motorhead live again this sunday. looking forward to it...
7. the first photo of our home in London.

goodness in the post

look! this very cold London morning i received the Michel Gondry's poster that i illustrated and designed for Soda Pictures. they kindly sent me a copy in the post. thanks guys, it's so much nicer to see the real thing printed to scale!
a bit tricky to photograph it as it's larger than it looks... will try to get a better photo of it when i go to the cinema next as, of course, it'll be even better to see it where it belongs :)
+ a tiny envelope packed with goodness from Shaun Doyle - i'm a huge fan of his work. cheers Shaun, it made my day!
got to go now and put my leg warmers on so i can work properly. it's freeeeezing.

bottling

you guys who have been following my blog for the last couple of years (at least) will probably be aware of my obsession with bottles by now.... and for those who have never perused my blog before, no i'm not an alcoholic...
but hey, maybe i'd become one if all my imagined bottles ever came to life... yeah, bottles of time, imagination, patience, wisdom, invisibility, etc...
well, these are the sketches so far and hopefully i will find sometime soon to develop this very personal project of mine :)

Michel Gondry ::: The Thorn in The Heart

so here it is! part 1 of the commission i've been working on. it's the quad poster for the latest Michel Gondry's film 'The Thorn in The Heart' see trailler here
now signed, sealed, delivered. it's gone to print as we speak and i can't wait to see it up in the cinemas :)
the process involved a few late nights work filled with nutella and pink milk binges but plenty of fun as i absolutely love Michel Gondry so taking on this brief has been a real joy.
+ a warm thank you to the folk over at Soda Pictures for being such an ace client.
the poster will be in London cinemas by tomorrow and the film is out on 10th december. exciting huh?!
now i've got to carry on with part 2 of the job ::: the DVD sleeve and film postcard. will show them too, once it's all finished.
have a lovely day peeps!

a new pop up

a brand new addition to my pop up book faves is Fantastical Flying Machines illustrated by the super talented and good friend of mine Simon Wild. i received my copy this morning and it's so exciting and full of good colour. it totally makes me happy :)
well done Mr. Wild!
++ Simon and i are now working on that collaboration i mentioned on previous posts so keep tune to find out more soon.
+ have a great week!

2.11.10

work in progress

a sneak peek on a special commission i'm working on. not sure those babies will be approved on the piece yet but i'm determined they will not be rejects. if not on this one, they'll be making an appearance on my next job as i can see they'd fit there perfectly.
excuse the lack of posts here, i've been working flat out on this as the deadline is rather tight considering the scale of the job... lots of sleepless nights since the weekend zzzzzzz
wishing you all a nice day and i'll be back soon :)
update ::: i almost forgot to mention, i'm now represented by the wonderful YCN, so my work can also be commissioned through there
