lazy bank holiday

that's what i love about bank holidays, you can be as busy or and as lazy as you like :) around here, most of the time, we choose to be lazy.
the other day on twitter, Natasha shared a link to a Steve Jobs's talk on 'how to live before you die'. i thought it was very inspiring...

sunday lunch + doodles

having a lovely sunday with my favorite 'not so little person anymore', my nephew Hector. he's thirteen now, taller than me and is he handsome or what?! :) we had lasagna and strawberries & cream for late lunch and he drew me a little cat and a couple of wee dogs. love them! and i think he'll make a great animator/games designer too... he's got his first mac now (my older G5 i gave to him today) everyone's happy :)
what are you up to this bank holiday? i always enjoy bank holiday weekends as it's just like having two sundays in a row. yay!

Computer Arts feature

was very pleased to get my issue 179 of Computer Arts yesterday. there's a whole page featuring my work! it's such a great mag, a real must if you're an illustrator.
i've not been up to much today apart from doing housework and daydreaming of a self-cleaning home. i really hope it happens in my lifetime as the best thing about housework is when you finish it L
have a nice weekend lovelies!

so much goodness

this morning when i got back from yoga, a lovely parcel from my talented friends Gracia & Louise awaited me. oh it made my day... so much goodness in it and i also love their packaging ways. thanks girls!
the other day i also took a picture of my inspiration board, which i rotate all the lovelies i receive on the snail mail. it all makes me so happy. the only problem now: i need a bigger box... or a second one for that matter. the pink one is bursting!
thank you all so much for cheering up my days for the last three years :) i got to know most of you either through this blog or flickr and i am so grateful because every and each one of you have kept me through and through inspired and motivated... thank you!

Bruno & Eloise ♥

today i had a rather stressful time sorting out my older mac. just cleaning it up and saving files i needed to keep, deleting stuff, etc. well, three years worth of work... a few things went wrong in the process and there was lots of swearing flying around the room. all sorted now though. i'm giving it to my nephew Hector, who at thirteen has decided he's going to be an animator and game designer. how cool is that?! i was certainly very pleased to hear :)
to forget the computer cleaning troubles, this evening i decided to have some fun and drew Bruno & Eloise. i hope their mommy, my good friend Mia, likes them too :)

illustration for Ammo Magazine :: issue 4

i'm pleased to show you this illu i created for my favorite illustration goodness packed publication Ammo Magazine. the subject for issue 4 is 'play' so boy, did i have fun making it?! absolutely :) the launch will be together with the inkygoodness exhibition, which shares the same subject. although i was invited to exhibit too it came with a bit of short notice and i just couldn't take on the offer due to other work commitments... unfortunately, one just can't do everything but i'll be there at the private view though, along with other ace illustrator friends. so if you're around London on 2nd September, please do come over and say hello. if not, i'll make sure i take some nice photos to show here.
i hope you make good use of this magic clock this weekend because it always points to play o'clock :D have fun!

map illustration for OSDN magazine + exhibition

this is the bike track map i've been working on the last couple of days. it'll be published on OSDN magazine + exhibition which will happen from 24th September at Nest Gallery in Berlin.
the idea is really interesting as another 29 artists also received an allocated 24x24 cm square to illustrate the bike tracks in europe. each square will be printed and mounted on individual canvas and gathered together as a whole for the show. it'll be so cool to see how all the pieces work together. shame i won't be able to be there but the organizers will be sending me some photos of the exhibition + the magazine. i shall look forward to seeing it :)
happy wednesday to you all!

work in progress + lots of goodness

monday is here and it feels great to return to the work in progress from where i left off last week. working on two pieces that will appear in two exhibitions later this year. more details nearer the time. also enjoying all the goodness i received last week from Anke + Simon's coloring book (which will be my best friend when i go on holiday next month) + Lesley's long horse promo piece + lots of yummy gifts from Linzie... lucky, lucky me, thank you guys! i promise i'll show them off in more detail when i get round to updating my inspiration board later this week :) hope you're having a good day too. laters!

tea & cake with Linzie

so today i went on a visit to the super talented Linzie Hunter's studio. not only do i adore Linzie's work but she also makes me laugh hard on a daily basis on twitter. so it was truly ace to meet Ms Witty in person. and isn't her workspace an overdose of inspiration?! hope you enjoy it too from the snapshots i took. thanks Linzie for inviting me round, even though i forgot to bring the biscuits. the coffee cake was delicious :)
wishing us all a fab weekend!

tiny folios

today i've been putting together those tiny portfolios for my periodical mailers. the day over here has been a strange one to say the least, sun is out for half an hour then it goes dark and rain starts... not complaining as our lovely garden could do with some rain at the moment but i do love the summer light to work... how's your day going? :)

a moody cow for The Big Issue

...and so this was my 24 hour deadline editorial illustration i had to deliver for The Big Issue magazine last week... it's out today.
short deadlines are good in a way because it's a challenge and you have to think fast. i really enjoyed doing this one. i've uploaded the second image large so some of you who live across the pond and can't get hold of a copy will be able to read the article. it's quite funny :) just click on it to enlarge.
hope you enjoy it and amen to 'us girls' for keeping the moody cowdom alive so i can get a job illustrating it!
