London zine symposium

had a brilliant time at the London zine symposium on saturday. so much goodness to be enjoyed... and it was ace to meet the super talented Anthony Zinonos + Laura and Lucy Davidson, the girls behind Lazy Sooosan fab zines. the event turned out to be better and bigger than i expected actually. i should definitely get involved next year :) got quite a few new zines for my ever growing collection. will show them here on another post later this week.
hope you're having a nice bank holiday, i love it, just like having two sundays in a row :)
update// Lucy also posted lots of great pictures here!

this week's goodness

what better way to end the week than by and showing you some of the goodness Mr. Postman brought me the last few days whilst enjoying my pink yogurt? got my issue 3 of Ammo Magazine which features a few artists who are also featured on our HJC + beautiful goodies from d'lovely Julia Pott. thanks Julia, i love everything!
on my own work side of things, all is well, the client loves the guys below and i'm now developing them further... watch this space!
++ an unexpected juxtaposition of my birds cut ups with one of the vintage postcards i found last week made me happy.
+ meet Honey, the horse. i named it after Lesley's childhood horse she sent me a picture of. wish i could show it here, it's delightful :)
anyway, gotta go now. have a wonderful weekend!

working on these guys today, i hope they will make you and my client have a giggle with them too :)
what do you think?
update // i've got a new post over at Doodlers Anonymous. a real treat, i promise!

lunchtime sketches

really quick sketches, i'm still brainstorming for a commission. it has to be line drawing as the final product will be screenprinted.
my badly sketched tiny creature on the top left might well be the poor long lost cousin of Blanca Helga's beautiful horse for the Happy Journey Collective. isn't her coffin just perfect?! ohh and speaking of the Happy Journey, we've been featured over at The Daily Undertaker today. wonderfully surreal, don't you think? :D
how's your day going so far?

enjoying the sun ❊

and the tastiest chocolate cake... been at it since yesterday so there's not much left now :) have moved my desk outside, it's far too nice to stay indoors. a slow going but happy monday. the warm sunshine made me officially self declare a day off. hope you have the sun with you too, wherever you are
++ very excited and honored to have been invited to guest write over at the fantastic Doodlers Anonymous through to the month of june. we're starting straight away though so keep tuned for some ace posts to come from me :)
update // pssst first post is up. and it's such a treat to the eyes, be sure to check it out here!

+ Esti's mornings

lucky & inspired

it's not even 2.30 pm and my day has already been filled by some awesome paper joy. first thing in the morning Mr. Postman brings me the nicest parcel from Anthony Zinonos. thank you Anthony, i love the collage mini kit.
and so it was cool to receive his parcel as it prompted me to open my big box of papers and dig out some treasures, including an old book of stamps i got from the carboot sales a while ago, some gorgeous stamps there.
+ luck day// found a bag full of vintage postcards and photographs at the bottom of my road on my way back from the post office (*last photo). aren't they just wonderful? scissors out, time for some serious play!
hope you're having an inspiring day too :)

lots of bikes

busy monday + a last minute submission for the TFL / AOI brief on cycling in London. just made the deadline, phew! great fun :)
now starting work for a new exciting commission, let's hope the lighty days continue to stretch.
it's so nice, love this time of the year, it makes me a much happier fox :)

unbound & connected

Unbound & Connected is a collaborative adventure between me and the super talented Sara Barnes. Sara is also the brains behind Brown Paper Bag, a great blog where she's launching the brand new series 'art together', so this is the first installment.
when she invited me to do take part, i was so flattered as i love her work and really enjoyed the paper cut play and had a lot of fun with this piece. she also interviewed me with some really nice questions about the process, read/see it here.
wishing us all a fab weekend :)

it's all good

a quick hello from me with a little bunch of things i love :) including beautiful mail from Abi all the way from Cyprus. thanks lovely, i adore the dragonfly and everything else really.
++ i don't remember whether i mentioned it here but we've got some ace new entries on our Happy Journey Collective including a fabulous piece by Sarajo Frieden. we still have some more to come from artists we invited, so looking forward to seeing those too. the project also featured on Design for Mankind yesterday. all good!
+ last week Lesley and i were asked to talk about our animation collaboration process over on Amelia's Magazine
phew, got to go now and finish off a deadline... i seem to be getting better and better at leaving stuff till the last minute. must learn a bit more about time management... tsk tsk
happy thursday to you!

a surprise packed weekend

so another happy year goes by and the other half decided to organize a surprise trip for our wedding anniversary... i almost died of curiosity in the last couple of weeks but he didn't breath a word until we got there
i love Wales as it is, but this place we went to is just delightfully surreal.... the colours, the architecture, the history of it... it felt like stepping into wonderland. i did take my red shoes with me though, which matched the place perfectly :)
/ the second and third photo is where we stayed/ the place is also famous for the cult 60's tv series The Prisoner, do watch an episode if you get a chance.
anyway, we had a very special and wonderful time. i came back with the most precious eternity ring, 364 photos and beautiful memories of such a magical place... thank you my love and best friend.
hope your weekend was a good one too :)
