lists

monday is here, very busy already and i'm having to catch up on quite a few things that have accumulated from the past few weeks. i've managed to make a list of what i consider achievable 'to do's' for this week. hopefully i'll be able to tick most of the lines off... do you have a tip for making/ managing lists? i'm just not very good at it. my hyperactive head is often wandering off.
image list above is from pictures from the last couple of weeks. tomorrow i'll show you some chickens :)

Take your time...

i love the way you presented this! here's how i manage lists. 1) i make the tasks concrete and achievable, even if it means breaking down one big, vague-sounding strategic activity into several smaller ones. 2) i give myself very tight deadlines on those tasks (time limits are my number one motivator), and 3) i write things on my list i've already done and cross them off. makes me feel like i've gotten a head start on things.

good luck!

i totally agree with what aimee said, particularly breaking tasks down into do-able bits. i also like to reward myself with little bonuses for getting things done by a deadline, and usually this is in the form of guilty pleasures (e.g. trashy TV, sleeping in, etc). sometimes i also put things on my list that are fun to-do's as well.

with the chickens ... do you mean you chicken out?

I write down EVERYTHING I fell like I should do. Then I look at everything and ask myself for each point - what happens if I do not do this one now?

I often discover that most things I wrote were not that urgent or important ... and that I put the really important things at the end ...
I should concentrate on them instead

I love your image list-very smart! If you really want to know-and I warn you now it is quite boring-this is my (new) system for lists. I seem to develop a new one quite often when the old one doesn't work anymore but this one is fairly good. I have a notebook-not too big. The page is divided into two columns-the right hand page only as I use the other side for extra notes. Left hand column-bullet points of tasks, right hand column proposed dates for completion or the lovely procrastinator's word-ongoing. I review it as often as I can but at the minimum once a week and move forwards anything not done. It is working fairly well though by this point in the term I am so overwhemlmed with stuff things tend to fall apart!
Good luck with your list!

And I also do what Aimee does-write down some things I have already or nearly done-for the same reason!

I go through phases of making lists - and then completely abandoning the idea of lists. I work better with lists though. I have a month by month thing where I make lists of things that I want to accomplish for that month under set topics, e.g. December: Social, Work, Health, Garden (haha - I've long abandoned that one), Make (my favourite one) and Films/Exhibitions.
On my new list for Make is going to go - learn how to make those circles on Thereza's post!

oh! the circles are so nice!
maybe you need to make mind maps instead of list...because you're likely to not be able to think in straight lines ; )
maybe circles with lines going out and more circles?
it's a pity that things need to get done, isn't it?
sometimes it'd be nicer if life could just have an organic flow. without deadlines.

I love this. Just perfect :-) And this photo layout "suits" your blog so well :-)

Lists huh? Can't live with'em, can't live without'em :-) My advise: make OBTAINABLE lists. Achievable ones. Not the 317-to-do's-I-have-to-check-off-before-lunch. Those just kill you. Like Alexandra says, I find there is always stuff on the list that can easily wait. No need to put them there - not get to them, and feel a failure for not making it. Obtainable goals. Is my tip. (Will you remind me next time I'm in the time managing pickle??) ;o)

Can't wait to see the chickens :-)
