the horse and the seed /// edited

i've wanted to further edit this book for a while and decided to try blurb for print but as a first experience with the service, i have to say, i am quite disappointed... though the colour is fine, the bleed is all over the place... not impressed at all, so have contacted them and we'll see what they're going to do to redress the problem. have you tried blurb.com before and if so what was your experience with them?
i've also published the full version on issuu. click here for full view. you should be able to read the story too :) have a nice week everyone!

The publishing business is quite frustrating! I have been on the editing, proofreading and authoring sides, and the opportunities for mistakes creeping in are tremendous! Good luck with the book - it looks beautiful so far, despite bleeding and other problems. Ask esti of pintame el dia about blurb - I think she used them for her book. Is yours going to be for sale?

Have you tried lulu.com? Some designer students have made a proof book for lulu that you can order (I have a link somewhere but no time to dig it up right now) with colours file types & all that - and pdf files for comparison. Quite handy.

such a pity ... But not your fault.

as you know I have only experience with lulu. I will go for them again!

Don't know much about the technical stuff- it looks beautiful to me!

oh, that's a shame! i think it looks wonderful but i understand that disappointment of not having something look in print the way i think it should have. when you're the designer/artist and you've personally worked yourself to the bone over every page, you know exactly in your mind how the printed version should look. then others take it over and since they do not have the same vision, so much can go wonky in the process of printing. fortunately to the rest of us it looks like a little masterpiece. i hope you try making more little books. i loved this collaboration between you and ana :)

Well, these images are just fabulous, I think I would be a bit peeved if they screwed up the margins and cropping. Ugh, I hate that!

Oh...I think it looks great from here where I sit...
like the mix from page to page...But I´m so sorry it doesn´t live up to your expectations...that sucks...The little book I made for myself month ago was MYPHOTOBOOK...It looked fine..
Blurb just have to send you big box of chocolate/roses/wine/a new better print!!!!

I'm sorry to hear that it didn't come out as you expected, thereza! It looks such a great work.
My experience with blurb was fine, not amazing, but I quite liked the outcome at the time. But I'm so easy to satisfy, you know, he, he... :)
Let me know about your lulu experience if you try it.
Espero que tengas un buen día!
